The lyrics for “The Righteous Choice” from The Righteousness Museum Album:
[Spoken Intro]
George Washington was a leader.
He was brave. He was fair.
But his greatest choice was not to keep power—
It was to give it back.
This is his song.
[Verse 1]
Long ago in Virginia land
A boy grew up with honest hands
He learned to measure, learn, and build
And do what’s right, his heart was filled
[Pre-Chorus]
When the war came, cold and long
He stood with soldiers, brave and strong
When they offered him a crown
He laid his power gently down
[Chorus]
The righteous choice, the righteous choice
Give it back, give it back
Listen to the people’s voice
The righteous choice, the righteous choice
Humility and service true
That’s the righteous thing to do
[Verse 2]
At Valley Forge, the snow would fall
He stayed beside them, one and all
With a humble heart and helping hands
He served the people, served the land
[Pre-Chorus]
When the war came, cold and long
He stood with soldiers, brave and strong
When they offered him a crown
He laid his power gently down
[Chorus]
The righteous choice, the righteous choice
Give it back, give it back
Listen to the people’s voice
The righteous choice, the righteous choice
Humility and service true
That’s the righteous thing to do
[Bridge]
You don’t need a crown to lead
You just need to do the right deed
Share the power, take your turn
That’s the lesson we must learn
[Final Chorus]
The righteous choice, the righteous choice
Give it back, give it back
Listen to the people’s voice
The righteous choice, the righteous choice
Humility and service true
That’s the righteous thing to do
That’s the righteous thing to do
[Spoken Reflection]
Think about this:
Have you ever had something you could have kept,
but you gave it back or shared it instead?
How did it feel?
[Chorus Reprise — soft, with children’s choir humming]
The righteous choice, the righteous choice
Give it back, give it back
Humility and service true
That’s the righteous thing to do
[Spoken Outro]
Righteousness principle:
True leadership is service.
Power is a trust—
Use it for others, not yourself.
